Seattle, Make Some Noise!
Posted in From Tour, General, Hilarious, hip hop with tags Flashing Lights, Glow In The Dark, Kanye, Sacramento, Seattle, Spinal Tap, Tour, West on April 21, 2008 by peterwjmillerKanye West’s Glow In The Dark tour rolled through Seatle Sacramento this weekend. Kanye pulled made a classic rockstar move mistake. Check his blog…
“I can’t believe I bust a spinal tap! It’s no excuse for this I wish I could sink in a black whole [sic]. When I said Seattle and there was no crowd response I was up on my spaceship platform thinking damn… I think I just said the wrong city!!!!! I kind of muffled the words so I was praying nobody really caught it. I guess all those hours that me and Phill spent making my mic clear as possible back fired on me! We had alot of problems with the video servers on the first 3 songs and that completely threw me off! Hey, I’m not perfect. Hope everybody had a good time. I’m a man, I can say it… I’m sorry.”
This video isn’t new, but is a great departure from the old soundstage with fake rain, fake money, and fake boobs hip hop video template.
Arabs Pay Jew(ish) $25 Million To Sing and Dance
Posted in General, Hilarious, Industry with tags $25 million, Confessions Tour, Dubai, Gay, Jonas Aklund, Kabbalah, Live Nation, Madonna, Perezhilton, Sheikh Mohammed al-Maktoum on April 19, 2008 by peterwjmillerAccording to perezhilton.com , Madonna is about to receive $25 Million to play two gigs in Dubai. This would be a new record in concert guarantees, as well as a highly ironic exchange; A slutty dancing, scantily clad white quasi-Jew (Kabbalah), rubbing herself to music, in an officially Islamic Arab country, being paid for by an Arab that can afford a $25 million event (Likely royalty/government or accomplished Arab businessman). Wow. At least in one fell swoop, Live Nation can claw back almost 25% of Madonna’s ten year advance. Everybody wins. Except Prince. This makes his $4.8 mill for Coachella seem totally pussy.
Here is a live clip from Madonna’s Confession’s tour DVD, directed by concert film master Jonas Åkerlund.
This festivity seems a little bit strange considering the fact that not so long ago, a Dubai nightclub was shut with direct orders from Dubai’s crown prince Sheikh Mohammed al-Maktoum for hosting a gay night.( http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/1254897.stm ) This is going to be like the gayest night of all time. How things change. Maybe though, Madonna has a huge straight following in the UAE.

New Music Marketing According to Radiohead
Posted in Industry, Television Performance with tags #37, BBC, Billboard, In Rainbows, Jonathan Ross, Nude, Radiohead, Show, Television on April 14, 2008 by peterwjmillerFirst the tip jar stunt with the initial release of “In Rainbows” and the subsequent monster-hype surrounding the end of music sales as we know it, then the remix contest of Nude. Both marketing tactics proved exceptionally successful. “Nude” has just entered the Billboard Hot 100 at #37; Radiohead’s first top 40 single since “Creep” hit #34 in 1993. More detailed info can be found all over the web. I just found this clip of “Nude” performed on the Jonathan Ross Show and felt the need to post it. It’s rare to see this kind of quality on a TV show performance; both performance and production. Enjoy.
